# User roles

## **Overview**

Your platform role determines what actions you can perform across Nodes & Links. There are three platform roles:

- Platform Admin
- Contributor
- Member

Platform Admins can access every project in their Workspace by default. Contributors and Members can only access projects they have been explicitly invited to.

## **Role descriptions**

### **Contributor**

Contributor is the core platform role and provides full access to most platform functionality. Contributors can work within projects they have been invited to, including creating and updating projects. However, they have limitations on Workspace-level administration and configuration.

Contributors can:

- Access projects they have been invited to.
- Create projects.
- Update projects.
- Invite users to projects
- Contributors cannot manage Workspace-wide configurations that are reserved for Platform Admins.

### **Platform Admin**

Platform Admins have the broadest level of access across the Workspace. In addition to all Contributor capabilities, Platform

Admins can:

- View all Nodes & Links projects in the Workspace.
- Manage Workspace-wide configurations.
- Enforce Workspace-level settings, such as Integrity Checks thresholds.
- Invite users and assign platform roles.
- Grant Contributors and Members access to projects.

Platform Admins do not need to be assigned to individual projects because they automatically have access to every project.

### **Member**

Members have the same access as Contributors within projects they have been invited to, with one important exception: they cannot create or update projects.

Members can:

- Access projects they have been invited to.
- Invite users to projects.

## **Choosing the right role**

Use the role that gives each user the access they need without granting unnecessary Workspace-level permissions.

- Assign **Platform Admin** to users responsible for Workspace governance, configuration, and access management.
- Assign **Contributor** to users who need to create and maintain projects.
- Assign **Member** to users who need to collaborate within existing projects but should not be able to create or modify projects.
